Writing Into Abundance: How Creativity Became My Most Generous Currency

For years, I believed that money came from hard work, long hours, and measurable achievement. That's how I was programmed working in the corporate banking and financial services industry. My financial planning reflected that belief too, structured, strategic and disciplined. But something shifted when I began to see my writing not just as a passion, but as a portal to an abundant life.

As a writer, it’s easy to fall into the trap of hustle: write more, market harder, post constantly.

But I started asking, what if the most powerful thing I could do for my creative and financial life was to slow down?

What if ease was not the enemy of success, but the very energy that attracts it?

That question led me to a ritual I now call 'The Receiving Hour'. It’s a daily practice that invites me to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the truth that my creativity is magnetic. That stories, especially the ones I write with joy and presence, carry value beyond metrics.

During this ritual, I visualize my life - mornings spent writing in the sun, readers discovering my detective series while I sip water, messages of gratitude arriving unexpectedly. I affirm that abundance flows when I’m aligned, not just when I’m busy.

Abundance of time, nature, love, connection and creativity.

The more I honour my writing as a sacred space, the more I notice its ripple effects:

- A newsletter subscriber becomes a loyal reader.

- A story sparks a new connection.

- A blurb written with ease resonates more deeply than one written under pressure.

Writing is no longer just a task, it’s my currency. It’s how I connect, inspire and receive.

This shift didn’t happen overnight. It took reflection, reframing and a willingness to trust that slowing down wouldn’t mean falling behind. It meant stepping into a new belief that my creativity is valuable, my stories are worthy and I receive with joy all that abundance.

If you’re a writer who’s been chasing productivity, I invite you to try your own Receiving Hour. Let your words flow from a place of ease. You might be surprised by what shows up, not just on the page, but in your life.

If this resonates, I’d love to welcome you into my creative circle. Sign up for my newsletter to receive behind-the-scenes stories, writing rituals and exclusive content. It’s where I share the heart of my writing life and I’d love to share it with you.

Have an abundant week,

Love Helen xx
